Events Archive: Boo Hewerdine + Iain Archer

Boo Hewerdine

Mon 17th Aug 2009, 8:00pm
Chapel Arts Centre, Lower Borough Walls (external link)

Boo Hewerdine was the voice and principal writer behind Eighties cult band The Bible, creating finely polished gems of thoughtful pop. His prodigious talent for song writing has been subsequently successfully harnessed by artists as diverse as Eddie Reader, Katrina And The Waves, Natalie Imbruglia and McAlmont and has also been the bedrock of a fine solo career.

Such is Boo’s songwriting reputation he found himself as one of the chosen subjects of Nick Hornby’s "31 Songs" book. His simple, heartfelt style is for ‘purists who value melody and narrative over effect and the spirit of the confessional’, Guardian.

Hailing originally from Northern Ireland, Iain Archer is best known for his work with Snow Patrol, for which he won an Ivor Novello Award. His acclaimed solo album, 'To The Pine Roots' was released in March and he has recently supported Athlete on tour.

Boo and Iain play this special one-off gig in Bath to mark the opening of the UK Songwriting Festival, Aug 16 – 21 at Bath Spa University. Working alongside Chris Difford (Squeeze), Boo and Iain will be a special guest tutosr for this course that aims to produce two hundred new songs in five days.

'If I could write books that sounded like this, I'd be very, very fulfilled' Nick Hornby

A special one-off gig presented by the UK Songwriting Festival and Bath Spa Live

* PLEASE NOTE NEW DATE - this gig was previously advertised as Sunday 16 August
