Site-Specific Performances, Rehearsals or Projects at Newton Park Campus
If you are a student within Music or Performing Arts you may wish to make use of the campus for a performance, rehearsal or project as part of your module coursework, or as extra-curricular activity. If so, there are several procedures you need to follow:
- You will need to complete a Risk Assessment for any site-specific activity on the Newton Park Campus.
- The Risk Assessment needs to be authorised by both the Head of School (Area Safety Manager) and the BSU Health & Safety Advisor.
- Permission for your site-specific activity needs to be granted by the Director of Estates and the Grounds Manager in advance of any rehearsals or performances.
Step 1
Plan your activity well in advance of any performance or rehearsals with all members of the student team involved and begin the Risk Assessment process at least 21 days before any rehearsals or performances are due to take place. You are also advised to take a look at the map you can download below which highlights the Newton Park areas where you can conduct your activity, as well as the staff whose permission needs to be given.
Step 2
Download the document below 'How to Complete a Risk Assessment' - this is essential reading as it will tell you all you need to know about assessing any risks.
Step 3
Download either the form 'Student Performance Risk Assessment' or 'Newton Park Campus Activity Risk Assessment' for completion. You will notice that these are working documents which allow you to amend any information to suit your individual performance or activity. There is also a Risk Assessment template below for any activity off-site, such as a performance or film project in Bath City Centre.
Step 4
Once you have completed the Risk Assessment form, email it to your Subject Leader or Module Tutor for checking.
Step 5
Email your checked Risk Assessment form to Michelle Diwell, the MPA School Operations Manager. Michelle will send the form to the Head of School and Health & Safety Advisor on your behalf, as well as the Director of Estates and the Grounds Manager, asking for their authorisation and permission.
Step 6
Wait 48 hours for a response.
