Material is Bath Spa University’s experimental music group. Recent performances include programmes of text scores by Christian Wolff, pieces for people walking, and a portrait concert of music by John Lely and John White. In June they will collaborate with Behaviour and Joanna MacGregor in a performance of pieces by John Cage in the Bath Festival. Material make music using many instrumental resources including record players, newspapers, sticks, voices, iPods, desks, stones, underground maps, toys, strings, dictaphones, bottles, bells, harmonicas, random junk and a piano.
