Focusing on the frustrations and insanities of everyday life in a modern University there are no plane crashes in Liquid Soap or murders or bodies buried under the patio; there’s more likely to be weeping girls dumped by their boyfriends; lads discovering they’ve contracted a STI; the alcoholic secretary who spends most of her time sleeping in a cubicle; the bullied lecturer rehearsing the big confrontation with the boss in the mirror only to find the boss has been in one of the cubicles all along and has heard everything; girls discussing their partners libido; boys picking spots; the over-worked café manager having a nervous breakdown; and the chaos of the night before followed the horror of the morning after. Just like real life really.

The production is professionally managed but is written, directed and performed by students and staff at Bath Spa University for broadcasting over the internet.

The Artswork Media webcasting project, led by Eastenders Producer/Director Chris Jury and Touch Films Producer Nic Jeune, aims to provide an ongoing professional production environment for all Bath Spa students but especially our Screenwriting, Performing Arts, Design and Broadcast Media students.

The series will initially be webcast in 5 minute episodes but the scripts are being developed so that 5 episodes can also be broadcast as a single 25 minute episode.

Episode One will be broadcast on the internet on Monday 12th October. Then every Monday for the next four weeks another episode wil be released culminating in the release of the 30 minute Omnibus on Monday 16th November.

Going forward it is intended to write & produce at least 10 more 5 minute episodes over the academic year 2009/10 and to then produce at least 15 x 5 minute episodes a year for the next 5 years.

World Toilet Day

Thursday 19th November is, believe it or not, World Toilet Day! Sanitation is a neglected issue but a crucial aspect of poverty and deprivation. World Toilet Day is held annually to draw attention to this vital part of life.

The Liquid Soap production team are hoping to work with local & national charities in order to mount a sponsored attempt to break a world toilet record - longest cue, most people in a cubicle.
